Chennai Express review

After series of flops sharukh khan tied up with rohit shetty who gave blockbuster comedy 
entertainers to many heroes.
That movie is "chennai express". Deepika padukone is the co star to sharukh and 
they wanted to bring back the "Om shanthi Om" magic again.

Story: Rahul (Sharukh) is a person who does not have any sentiments in his life and when
 his grandfather dies, despite the sarrow he is planning to go Goa. Much to his surprise, his
grand mother forces him to Pour his grandfather's ashes in Rameswaram . Then he starts to rameswaram in chennai express.

To escape that tour, he explains his problem to his friends and asks them to wait at next 
station where he gets down and meet them and continue their plan to go goa as usual.

But when he forgets his grand father ashes in Chennai express, he goes back to train compartment where he meets Meenamma(deepika)  in DDLJ style .Meenamma is a daughter of a Don(periya thala) in tamilnadu. periya thala forces meenamma to get married to thangabali, a local goonda, inorder to increase his power in that area.

Due to some unexpected events, rahul goes to meenamma's house and trying to escape from there. and meenamma helps him to escape from there.Meanwhile meenamma loves rahul.

Will they be successful after all their trails,? will rahul realize meannamma's love towards him , will form the rest of the story.

Analysis: After a long time sharukh khan has shown his mettle and makes you laugh with his comedy timing and acting power.He reminds us the earlier days of sharukh.

Deepika is hot in traditional wear. Her hindi accent with tamil slang is funny. She is the show stealer. Sathya raj as a father to deepika has done a good job.

Remaining artists does not have much scope.

Rohit shetty who has weaved  very good entertainers in the past, has not able to generate much comedy as expected. Normally his movies have confusion comedy, but that is missing in this movie.

Story wise it is like " A person who doesnot respect any sentiments of others realizes his mistakes when a girl enters his life and teaches him what is love".

more or less it is a road journey movie where hero and heroine gets closer to each other after a series of events.

So major scope is for heroine and many ways hero is passive. But his antics to escape from the place forms a good entertainer though.

Screenplay wise, first half is good to set up the tempo to the story , but it lacks pace in the second half.Many scenes in the first half reminds us few south films like "Okkadu", "Bavagaru baagunnara" and "Muthu".

Dailogues are funny enough .

Chemistry between sharukh and deepika is good in the second half.

Direction by Rohit is good and production values are very good. Editing is very nice. Music is also very good.

Last but not least, Lungi dance which comes in the rolling titles is a tribute to Rajnikanth .

With the stardom value and decent entertainment, it may join 100 crores club easily. But it may not satisfy you much.Strictly for sharukh fans.

Bottom line: Time pass treat with some decent entertainment.
